AAIP Business Immigration

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has four business immigration streams for entrepreneurs who intend to live in Alberta and actively manage a business in the province:

Rural Entrepreneur Stream

  • Start or buy a business in a rural Alberta community (population under 100,000)
  • Minimum $100,000 investment
  • Exploratory visit and community support letter required
  • CLB 4 in English or French
  • Business plan required

Farm Stream

  • Farm management experience required
  • Minimum $500,000 in equity to invest in a farming enterprise in Alberta
  • Detailed farm business plan required

Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

  • Letter of recommendation from an AAIP-approved designated agency
  • A Canadian equivalent post-secondary degree from outside Canada completed within the last 10 years
  • Minimum $100,000 investment in Edmonton or Calgary, or $50,000 in regional Alberta
  • Business plan required
  • Pitch deck required

Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

  • Degree or diploma from an Alberta post-secondary institution (minimum of two years)
  • CLB 7 in English or French
  • Points-based selection system
  • Business plan required
